Everybody and the seagulls

Being stuck in the house since March because of COVID and subsequent restrictions at work to "WFH" is certainly adding to already high stress levels. One important point to keep in mind through this all is that I still have my health and family around me. I know the same can't be said for everyone and for that, I'm sorry. So now it's time to head to typically maskless Huntington Beach.

Living in Southern California allows us to enjoy pretty temperate weather year-round, apart from today where it has been raining most of the day with rumbles of thunder unsettling my little boys.
Because the weather can often be nice even in Winter, it's important to get outside and that is something which I just do not do often enough. Either way, I got out again on Christmas Day and went for a bike with my family up to Huntington Beach and boy was it needed along with the #VitaminD.
One of the issues with Huntington Beach is that it's quite liberal and, at the moment, when most of us Americans are concerned with our health and spreading germs most people who live or visit Huntington Beach are not interested in wearing masks, which is their prerogative. Also, despite a soft lockdown order in place, there were a lot of people just milling around and shopping generally not doing anything absolutely necessary or exercise related. Well, that is apart from all of the #surfers we saw.
Not only was it much busier than expected due to #crimbo, #lockdown, and #covid, there were so many seagulls around. I don't remember being here and worrying if my lunch snacks were going to be stolen by these brazen birds. Well, when we stopped for a quick bite to eat, no surprise, we were being surrounded by these large birds looking at us inquisitively for any leftovers of what we managed to neck back.
The bike ride wasn't as much fun for the kids as I was hoping for but whenever we come near the beach they both always want to touch the sand. So, after our nibbles, we cycled past SO MANY PEOPLE to get down to the sand. We had a good time though, and the weather was perfect which is something I like to show off to my family and friends back in England who are, shall we say, not experiencing the same sort of weather. #notsorry.
After playing Marco Polo using our masks, we headed back on our bikes and weaved in and out of the crowd back to our car so that we could get home in time for the #sunset which showed signs of being a special one. It didn't disappoint.

Keep well and stay safe!
