Haven by the Petite Piton

We had the chance to break away from our two little boys for our 10th wedding anniversary. I had planned this trip for a while but wanted to come to Saint Lucia for the longest time.

I tend to do a lot of research when it comes to our family trip with two little boys but this time it was just me and my wife. I’m not a beach guy so the idea of staying on an island for the week doesn’t interest me but I’ve always wanted to come to Saint Lucia.
Hotel (8/10)
The “hotel”, or rather Estate is made up of multiple villas and my priority with this stay was viewing the beautiful piton(s). One thing to keep in mind is that 4- or 5-star in this country is not necessarily going to be the same as an English 5-star or American 5-star hotel. However, the grounds were beautifully kept and the estate buildings were very well maintained.
Villa (8/10)
We booked the garden villa which had a beautiful view of the petite piton and its own infinity pool. We felt very secluded in our villa’s grounds and was close enough to the Mango Tree restaurant to grab some food.

One thing to get used to during your stay is the mosquitos. They can be relentless. I believed my wife said she had 41 bites during the stay. The nice thing about the very breezy and open villas is the use of the integrated insect screens in all the doors and a much-needed insect net over the whole four-poster bed. Everything worked nicely and was very comfortable for us both. The outdoor, but the secluded shower was a nice touch and with the heat constantly on in Saint Lucia, this felt very nice. Again, though, you have to share your space with the island creatures. We had a cat and her 4 kittens lounge with us for a day or 2. Other than that, you have spiders, mosquitos, and lizards sharing your space.

Staff (10/10)
From our driver here to the receptionist to the maintenance guy, everyone is genuinely very nice and kind and will take the time to talk with you. Everyone here was knowledgeable about the island and was able to suggest things to do, which, for the most part, married up with most of what we had already planned.
(26/30). I’m very glad I came here. I had waited 10 years to get to the island and staying here on the island really topped off a great visit. I’m not sure how often we can leave the kids for a week (looked after, of course) but I’m sure they’d enjoy it here too, if they could get in.
The photos don’t necessarily do this place justice but I think we’ve captured a lot of what a guest would enjoy. This place tops out at 5/5 because of the view, staff, and villa. A huge thank you goes out to Stonefield Estate for making our 10th anniversary a trip to remember.
